Health at Every Size (HAES) is an approach to health that focuses on intuitive eating and pleasurable physical activity rather than dieting and weight loss.
Let’s face facts. We’ve lost the war on obesity. Fighting fat hasn’t made the fat go away. And being thinner, even if we knew how to successfully accomplish it, will not necessarily make us healthier or happier. The war on obesity has taken its toll. Extensive “collateral damage” has resulted: Food and body preoccupation, self-hatred, eating disorders, discrimination, poor health… Few of us are at peace with our bodies, whether because we’re fat or because we fear becoming fat.

MOVING ON: FROM WEIGHT TO WHAT MATTERS
Weight. Few topics are as complicated and consuming. That’s because
most of us view the world through a weight lens, whether considering if we can afford the calories in a dessert, calculating the exercise
price we should pay for indulging, judging ourselves when we look in a mirror, or making assumptions about someone’s character based
on their body size.
Performance Initiatives is a not for profit 501 c3 organization based in Savannah. We work hand in hand with Coastal Empire Weightlifting. The purpose of the organization is to educate and mentor youth and adults by using athletics and fitness, with olympic-style weight lifting as the base.
Tracy Fober believes physical health is the cornerstone of basic human function and athletic performance. She started her own practice in 2003 to develop and promote the concept of physical health for life and sport, integrating knowledge and practical experience from the fields of exercise science, rehabilitation and the sport of weightlifting. Tracy currently resides in St. Louis, Missouri with her husband Kevin, and three cats, Sofia, Pippi and Felix.
CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide.
Cara wears several hats including that of an Olympian, Motivational Speaker, Health and Fitness Advocate, Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Personal Trainer, and Coach to disadvantaged youth and collegiate athletes, . She grew up in Southern California and after 15 years of traveling, training and competing all over the world, she has returned with a mission and a passion to get people moving and exercising ! She began weightlifting as a freshman at Newport Harbor High School. Tony Ciarelli introduced Cara and her sister Gina to Olympic-style weightlifting as a means to get them stronger for the shot put and discus. In the shot put, as well as in basketball, they found themselves to be the runts in the pack, but Olympic-style weightlifting was their secret weapon
